Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) applies to all users of the National Society for Education, Mentoring and Media’s online tutoring services, including students, tutors, and staff. By using the services, you agree to abide by this AUP.

General Rules

  • You must use the services for legitimate educational purposes only.
  • You must not use the services to engage in any illegal or harmful activity.
  • You must not use the services to harm or exploit others.
  • You must not use the services to violate the privacy or intellectual property rights of others.
  • You must not communicate with any student or parent through an external channel such as normal telephone or text message.
  • You must not use the services to create or distribute any content that is offensive, harmful, or discriminatory.

Online Behaviour

  • You must be respectful of other users of the services.
  • You must not engage in any bullying, harassment, or hate speech.
  • You must not post any personal information about yourself or others without their consent.
  • You must not share any confidential or sensitive information.

In-Person Behaviour

  • If you are attending an in-person tutoring session, you must behave in a respectful and appropriate manner.
  • You must not engage in any violence, bullying, harassment, or hate speech.
  • You must not post any personal information about yourself or others without their consent.
  • You must not share any confidential or sensitive information.

Prohibited Activities

In addition to the general rules listed above, the following activities are prohibited:

  • Distributing or possessing child pornography.
  • Hacking or attempting to hack into the services.
  • Distributing or creating viruses, malware, or other harmful content.
  • Spamming or sending unsolicited messages.
  • Impersonating another user.
  • Sharing personal information with other users, including personal identifiable information or email addresses.
  • Any other actions which would be considered unethical, unfavourable or unlawful by the trustees.

Enforcement

The NSEMM reserves the right to investigate and take action against any user who violates this AUP. Such actions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Warning the user
  • Suspending the user’s account
  • Terminating the user’s account

Reporting Violations

If you believe that someone is violating this AUP, please report it to the DSO.

Severability

If any provision of this AUP is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck from this AUP and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Age restrictions

The services are intended for use by individuals who are at least 13 years old.

Users under the age of 13 must have the consent of their parent or guardian to use the services.

Parents or guardians of users under the age of 13 must provide their consent in writing before their child can use the services.

The consent form must include the parent or guardian’s name, address, and phone number.

Reporting of abuse

Users who believe that someone is violating this AUP should report it to the Designated Safeguarding Team.

Reports should include as much information as possible, such as the date, time, and location of the incident, as well as the names of any involved parties.

Entire Agreement

This AUP constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous communications, representations, or agreements, whether oral or written.

Governing Law

This AUP shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom
